Ciao! I have made it to Rome and am sitting in my apartment! It's adorable! I have a balcony off of my room and a full closet built into the wall with really pretty doors on the front of it. I'm up three marble, spiral flights of stairs with no elevator but that shouldn't be a problem besides lugging my 50 lb. suitcase up the stairs (thank you to the man from housing who lifted that for me!). I'm the first to arrive in my apartment, meaning I got to pick this awesome room and which bed I wanted. There's no heat on during the day so its kind of chilly, but I'll manage.
The hardest part right now: convincing myself that it's only noon when I feel like it should be time for bed. Those little airplane seats are not intended for easy sleeping. I dosed on and off but I could still use a real, full night's sleep. That will come after a day that is sure to blow my mind.
I'll try to post pictures of the apartment as soon as I can!
Ciao!
Julie
P.S. On the way to the bus stop (the guy from housing showed me where to get the bus to school), I passed a coffee shop with tons of beautiful pastries in the window. I"ve died and gone to foodie heaven :)
One of the best ways to fight jet lag on this side of your trip is to try to stay awake to get as close to a normal bedtime (like 9:00) as you can. That way you go to bed and get a "normal" amount of sleep. Remember one day of adjustment per time zone until you are really normal. Keep the blogs coming. I love "listening to your voice". Love, Mom
